Red Cross Lifeguard Training
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course provides entry -level lifeguards the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. This class will prepare the student to obtain an entry level life guarding position at a swimming pool facility. The course includes First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) certifications. The course is a blended learning course, with the online portion of the course being completed prior to the first in-person class.
Course fees: $180 a $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration, with the balance due the first day of in-person class.

Attendance at all classes is mandatory.
All classes will be held at the Family Aquatic Center, 1200 West Radio Ln, Arkansas City Ks 67005
Course Pre-Requisites
Must be 15 years of age on or before the last scheduled session of the course.
Must be able to swim 150 yards
After swimming 150 yards, maintain position at the surface of the water without support for 2 minutes.
After maintaining position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes, swim 50 more yards
While swimming, you must swim continuously, with face in the water and demonstrating good breath control
May use front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swimming on back or side are not permitted
Swim 20 yards and retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 7 to 10 feet, return to the surface and swim on your back to return to the starting point holding the brick with both hands in 1 minute and 40 seconds.
